Margot and Bill Winspear, opera-lovers and College of Music patrons, established the first Endowed Chair in Opera with a gift of 1.5 million dollars. This allows UNT Opera to award generous scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $15,000, to selected vocal students each academic year.

Any scholarship award of $1,000 or more can reduce tutition costs by an additional $8,000 (by providing in-state tuition to awarded students). For many students, a $1,000 scholarship carries a $9,000 value. UNT offers one of the most reasonably priced, top-level educations in the nation. To understand the cost value of an education at UNT, please visit the College of Music "Cost of Attendance" page.

Graduate students in opera may apply to become teaching assistants in the opera program. Students may also be considered for assistantships in the College’s admissions and development offices. Highly qualified doctoral students may be considered for one of eight teaching fellowships in the Division of Vocal Studies.
